How do I become CEH AI certified?
Getting ready for the exam
Whether you prefer to prepare through official instructor-led training or challenge the exam with your existing experience, EC-Council offers a path for every professional. Choose what works for your schedule and your goals.
Official Training
Learn all 20 modules with hands-on labs and AI-powered lab, ethical hacking and CTF environments through an Accredited Training Centre or official online learning.
The CEH AI program requires two years of work experience in an information security role — unless you attend official EC-Council training, which waives the experience requirement.
With official training — complete EC-Council training at an Accredited Training Center, via official online learning, or at an approved academic institution, and become exam-eligible immediately. Nearly all official packages bundle courseware, labs, and the exam voucher.
Without training (challenge route) —
apply directly with verifiable proof of at least 2 years’ experience in any of the 9 CEH AI domains, plus a non-refundable US$100 application fee. Instructors, trainers, and PhDs are also eligible.
The 9 experience domains (challenge route)
Information Security and Ethical Hacking Overview
Reconnaissance Techniques
System Hacking Phases and Attack Techniques
Network and Perimeter Hacking
Web Application Hacking
Wireless Network Hacking
Mobile Platform, IoT, and OT Hacking
Cloud Computing
Cryptography
The challenge route is a simple 3-step process
Submit your eligibility application with the non-refundable US$100 fee.
Receive notification of approval typically within 5–10 business days after your verifiers respond.
Purchase your CEH AI exam voucher via the links sent once eligibility is granted.
Fee waiver: Applicants who hold an active CEH AI certification from versions 1–7, issued prior to ANAB accreditation, are eligible for an application fee waiver.
Verification: EC-Council will verify your experience by contacting the verifiers identified in your application. Applicants are responsible for notifying their verifiers in advance. Application approval is valid for 90 days from the date of approval, during which time the exam voucher must be purchased. The voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, during which the exam must be scheduled and completed.
Once you hold an exam voucher, you can schedule the 4-hour knowledge exam at a Pearson VUE test center or as a remotely proctored online exam. These are the key steps:
Secure your CEH AI exam voucher through EC-Council or an accredited training partner.
Log in to your EC-Council ASPEN account and open your certification dashboard.
Choose remote proctoring or a Pearson VUE test center near you.
Select your date and time, then confirm your appointment.
You may re-attempt the exam up to 4 times within one year if needed, per EC-Council’s retake policy.
Note: your voucher code must match the one linked to your eligibility application, or the certification will not be granted.
How to become certified
Passing the CEH AI exam is the milestone that earns your credential. To become CEH AI certified, an individual must:
Pass the 125-question, 4-hour ANAB-accredited knowledge exam.
Meet the eligibility requirements (official training or verified experience).
Adhere to the EC-Council Code of Ethics.
Maintain the credential through the EC-Council Continuing Education (ECE) scheme — 120 credits over three years.
CEH AI Master: EC-Council recognizes holders of both the CEH AI and CEH Practical certifications with the prestigious CEH AI Master designation. This designation cannot be purchased; it is awarded only to candidates who pass both the CEH AI knowledge exam and the 6-hour hands-on CEH AI Practical exam against live machines, fully demonstrating both knowledge and skill.
EC-Council offers two official eligibility routes to the certification exam. Both lead to the same exam and the same credential, the right one depends on your experience.
Recommended for candidates
Certify with Training
Complete official EC-Council training and become exam-eligible immediately — no prior work-experience proof required.
Attend official training through an Accredited Training Center, EC-Council’s official online learning, or an approved academic institution.
The two-year work experience requirement is waived for officially trained candidates.
Nearly all official packages include the courseware, hands-on labs, and certification exam voucher.
Nearly all EC-Council partners and official training avenues include certification voucher(s) in the training package — along with official courseware and labs. If you purchased training but certification wasn’t included, you can buy your voucher through your training partner or directly through EC-Council. We recommend checking with your training center first, as they often bundle vouchers with training at a better rate.
The online exam with proctoring (ECC Exam Center) is US$950*, and the Pearson VUE voucher is US$1,199*. *These rates are exclusively for candidates who have successfully completed official training and can submit an EC-Council certificate of completion listing the Authorized Training Partner or program (available in ASPEN after your course evaluation).
You may re-attempt the examination up to 4 times in one year. In many cases, exam and retake vouchers are included in the program you purchased, so speak with your educator first. If you need to buy a retake voucher from EC-Council, submit a request at the retake application page.
Because vouchers are often bundled with official training by accredited partners, the price can vary by region, training facility, partner, trainer experience, cost of proctoring, and mode of training. To promote free-market competition and prevent price-fixing, EC-Council does not set the price of training or the corresponding materials purchased through training partners.
No. The certification exam is personal in nature, assessing your knowledge and skills in the specified domains. Every candidate has a fair and equal chance to succeed regardless of how they prepare. EC-Council and its Authorized Partner network follow a strict code of conduct and do not advise which training method prepares you more effectively. If you’re told otherwise, report it to certmanager@eccouncil.org for investigation.
Minors are not permitted to take the CEH AI exam without a written consent/indemnity letter signed by their parent or legal guardian, along with a supporting letter from their institution of learning. Only candidates from a nationally accredited institution will be considered. Minor/adult legal ages are defined by the candidate’s country of residence/origin. For clarification or to submit a consent letter, contact certmanager@eccouncil.org. EC-Council reserves the right to revoke certification status for non-compliance.
Yes. Candidates who require special accommodations can refer to EC-Council’s Special Accommodation Policy and submit a request via the special accommodation page.
EC-Council recognizes holders of both the CEH AI and the CEH AI Practical certifications as a CEH AI Master. It is not a separate certification and cannot be purchased — it is awarded only to candidates who pass both the CEH AI exam and the CEH AI Practical exam, fully demonstrating knowledge (CEH AI) and skills (CEH AI Practical).
Disclaimer: EC-Council reserves the right to modify certification policies without notice, and to revoke the certification of any person determined to be in breach of these policies.
Now that you’ve selected your certification, follow these steps:
Certified Ethical Hacker (Practical) Application Process
Steps to Become an EC-Council CEH (Practical) without taking training:
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The CEH Practical program requires the candidate to have two years of work experience in an Information Security role and should be able to provide a proof during the application process unless the candidate attends official training.
If a candidate has completed official EC-Council training either at an Accredited Training Center, via the EC-Council’s official Online Learning, or at an approved Academic Institution, the candidate is eligible to attempt the respective EC-Council exam. To validate status of a training center or educator offering EC-Council training, please connect with EC-Council support, or call an EC-Council office using the contact information found at: https://cert.eccouncil.org/contact-us.html
Purchasing Certification Vouchers
Nearly ALL EC-Council Partners and official training avenues defined above include certification voucher(s) in the training package. Official Partners will include Official Courseware, Official Labs, and Certification Vouchers in addition to the training they provide you as you prepare for your EC-Council Certification. In the event you have purchased training, and certification was not included in your purchase, you are eligible to purchase your certification voucher either through the training partner where you attended training, or here directly through EC-Council. We strongly recommend speaking with your training center as they may offer certification vouchers bundled with their training offer at a better rate.
*The rates above are exclusively for students who have successfully completed Official Training. Candidates will be required to submit a certificate of completion issued by EC-Council that lists the Authorized Training Partner or Program available post your course evaluation submission in ASPEN (EC-Council’s student portal).
Certification Retake Vouchers
In the event you do not successfully pass your certification attempt, you may re-attempt the examination up to 4 times in one year. Again, we advise you to speak with the Educator where you purchased training; in many cases, Exam vouchers and retake vouchers are offered as a part of the program you purchased. In the event you need to purchase a retake voucher from EC-Council, please submit a request at https://cert.eccouncil.org/retake-exam-promo.html and initiate a retake application.
Free Market Pricing
As the price of exam vouchers is many times bundled with official training by our accredited partners, the price may vary depending on the region, training facilities, training partner, the trainer’s experience, cost of proctoring the exam, and even the mode of training of the partner. To promote free-market competition and ensure no “price-fixing” takes place, the EC-Council does not set the price of training or the corresponding materials purchased through training partners.
Fair and Equitable Testing Practice
Certification Examination is personal in nature, assessing an individual’s knowledge and skills in the specified certification domains. All candidates who attempt EC-Council Certification Examinations have a fair and equal chance to succeed in their certification attempt regardless of how they prepare for the examination. EC-Council, and its entire Authorized Partner network adhere to a strict code of conduct and do not advise students which training method prepares a candidate more effectively for examination. In the event you are told otherwise, we request you report the incident to EC-Council immediately for investigation by writing to certmanager@eccouncil.org with details of your experience.

As various consumer laws across the world to prohibit any type of “price fixing”, EC-Council Certification department is unable to prescribe minimum pricing for its exams. This allows a free market approach which benefits our certification community.
As the price of an exam vouchers is many times bundled with official training by our accredited partners, the price may vary depending on the region, training facilities, training partner, the trainers experience, cost of proctoring the exam and even the mode of training of the partner.
It is imperative that we make it clear that no student shall be deemed to have any added advantage whatsoever from one mode of training to another in order to challenge the ECDE exam as the exam is a standard exam for everyone, regardless of the method of training.
Should any training partner attempt to tell you otherwise, we ask that you lodge an official complaint with the EC-Council certification department so that the necessary action can be taken against the training partner.
